Sox complete dominant run through tournament
The San Mateo White Sox steamrolled through the Burlingame Fourth of July Tournament, beating the host team 12-2 Sunday night. The win in the championship was the sixth in six tournament games for the White Sox, all coming in dominant fashion. The last win was probably the most impressive, with the Sox scoring at least one run in each of the first six innings, including a back-breaking four in the fifth.
Aaron Cutts pitched four scoreless innings, scattering three hits.
He was relieved by James Chamberlin who pitched the final three frames, striking out five in the process.
Offensively, the Sox were up to their usual tricks.
Miles Krone went 3 for 4, and scored three times. Chris Vargas went 4 for 4, driving in three. Ryan Hamilton conquered Washington Park with a mammoth two-run bomb as part of a 2-for-3 night.
Burlingame scored both of its runs off of Chamberlin in the sixth.
San Mateo outscored its opponents 47-12 in the tournament.
