SHP star chooses Stanford

Paul Rudolph, a rising senior at Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton, has been admitted to the Stanford class of 2013 and has verbally committed to play water polo for the Cardinal.

Rudolph, a three-time all-Central Coast Section selection, led the Gators to a West Catholic Athletic League and CCS championships last season. He was named CCS player of year and was a first-team All-American as a junior.

"Paul has a unique blend of strength and quickness, and I expect him to have an unforgettable senior season at Sacred Heart Prep," SHP coach Brian Kreutzkamp said. "I am extremely proud that he has taken the time to work hard in the pool and in the classroom to make his dream of attending Stanford University a reality."

Rudolph said he is honored to become a part of Stanford. "It has always been my goal to attend Stanford and play water polo for coach John Vargas," he said. "Stanford offers the very best academic and athletic environment in the nation, and I am looking forward to being a part of it."
