Tribe explodes for 18 runs
The San Carlos Tribe used a seven-run fourth inning to defeat Redwood City 18-4 in 19-and-under American Legion baseball action Wednesday night at Sacred Heart Prep High in Atherton.The Tribe scored five times in the fifth inning and outhit the Blues 14-10 in a game that was called after 8 1/3 innings because of a tough sun in the umpire's eyes. Redwood City was hurt by four errors.
Jordan Sanvictores got the win, improving to 3-4. He worked two innings in relief. He was one of four pitchers used by San Carlos. Redwood City also used four pitchers as the teams tried to save arms for this weekend's Area 2 tournament in Palo Alto.
Jeff Keller delivered a three-run homer for San Carlos in the fourth inning, his fifth homer of the year.
San Carlos got doubles from Brett Gavasse, Michael Ching and Brad Sentman, who had two RBIs. Jonathan Fukuhara had three hits and two RBIs for the Tribe. Four Tribe players had two hits: Kyle Leong, Adam Costello, Keller and Ching. Leong, Keller and Ching each contributed three RBIs.
Tim Rivera had three hits, including a triple for Redwood City.
San Carlos improved to 17-13, 15-9 in the league.
It was the final game of the league's regular season.
