Orioles rally in 11th to defeat Burlingame

The San Mateo Orioles 19-and-under American Legion baseball team beat host Burlingame 5-0 Thursday night at Washington Park.

Kevin Hahn was masterful on the mound for Burlingame, pitching 10 shutout innings while giving up just three hits and striking out 11. After he gave way to a reliever, San Mateo scored five times in the 11th inning.

Ryan Allgrove worked five innings for San Mateo, allowing four hits and four walks while striking out five. Brian Bielagus came on in relief, and Craig Sargent followed him to the mound in the ninth and got the win with three scoreless innings.

Kevin McEntee singled and tripled for San Mateo.

The game was won with an 11th-inning rally that began with a Timothy Quiery single. Sargent reached on an error when he tried to sac bunt. Nick Franquez then sac bunted before Brett Montague drew an RBI walk. McEntee then drove home two runs with a single. Cody Larson and Allgrove followed with sacrifices to score two more. A Scotty Kalush single was the third hit of the inning and delivered the fifth run.

Andrew Suvunnachuen had two hits for Burlingame, which got doubles from Danny Lenardon and Matt Cochran.

San Mateo improved to 20-5-1 overall, 16-3-1 in the league.
